September 17, 2013 - QR Codes

Hello again! Today's class we learned how to create a webpage with Google Docs.  I liked this activity but felt it would be easier (and also a little quicker) to navigate on a laptop with a mouse.  I'm looking forward to changing the background and doing a few things to personalize it.

We also learned about QR codes.  I've used a bar code scanner on my iPhone to price compare things, but I never used the QR code.  Definitely a nice feature to get information quickly.  I didn't know QR Codes can go to Youtube and different websites; it was fun doing the little scavenger hunt!

Here's a QR code I generated to one of my favorite web sites.

Looking forward to learning more.

September 10, 2013 - First Blog!

Today's first class has me SUPER excited about future INTC 2610 classes!  I love working with my iPad and I'm looking forward to learning ways on how to implement iPad activities in the classroom for kids.

In today's class, Professor Ross showed us how to operate and navigate the iPad and although I'm well-versed in how to operate my iPad, I learned a few new things!  I learned that you can "undo" a task by shaking the iPad and I also learned a different way to bring up the tasks that are running in the background.

We also did a fun activity that included getting into groups and selecting a game from several different subjects.  Our group, which included myself (Jamie), Tony, and Evan, chose a Math Bingo game and demonstrated how it would be a fun way for grade school children to learn and practice their addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.

In the last hour of class, Professor Ross showed us how to create a blog in blogger (as you can see!) which we will use to create seven blog post throughout the course of the class.  I'm really looking forward to the other activities in class!

Cheers dolls!
